About the teacher

I believe that Hatha-Yoga is a comprehensive system of holistic health care that helps to create a strong, more flexible and healthy body and mind. Simultaneously it may be a tool to connect to oneself, to others and to a power that supports and nurtures us, if we allow it.

You will be looking in vain for me to demonstrate the most extreme pretzel-position one finds in “Light of Yoga” by B.K.S. Iyengar , as the focus of my teaching is on alignment, health and finding inner and outer balance.

I also believe that Hatha-Yoga must be taught with a sound knowledge of how the body works. My training with IYTA (International Diploma of Yoga Teaching), IYAA (Diploma of Integral Yoga Teaching) and hundreds of hours of teacher training with Desiree Rumbaugh, Amy Ippoliti and other former Anusara teachers have given me the knowledge to guide my students appropriately and wisely. As a qualified Naturopath (Advanced Diploma Naturopathy) it is my passion to guide my students to a better understanding of their body and health. I believe every single yoga student is different and thus I work with variations to honor that difference.

Whether it is the super flexi-bendy type, the tensed-up mid-lifer or the seasoned practitioner, Yoga can be for everyone.  Life might take a turn and things aren’t the way they were; Yoga slows us down and creates time to give us answers to questions we often avoid to ask.

The essence of my teaching is: be who you are, explore your boundaries, accept your differences, stay curious, pursue health and balance and find what’s important to you and go practice it.

As I am stepping into her class her energy lifts me/us up – even after a tiring school day and struggling through the KL evening traffic. Every movement she does/shows is slow, methodical and precise – the result of an intentional thought, knowing exactly where every body part is supposed to be. Read more…
